Tyler put his needs first ONCE. He didn't ask for her to wait. she put her needs first too. it felt natural. but then Klaus played Caroline when he told her he let Tyler go. He was imprisoned in Nola, until Rebekah let him out. and since he got back, Caroline hasn't shown any kind of regret that she lost Tyler. she was just upset how he found out about klaus. she basically told him to get over her betrayl and by that his mother's death. they are both to be blamed. not just tyler.
I agree 100%. Their break up in 5x05 felt natural. I could understand where both of them were coming from, Tyler needing to avenge his mother and pick up the pieces of his life and Caroline wanting a boyfriend who could actually be there for her. It made total sense even though it broke my heart. But then 5x11 happened and ever since then nothing has made sense. IMO Caroline has been so OOC and I don’t get it. She did show a little bit of regret for what happened, but not nearly enough. And then when she was tired of feeling guilty she was just like okay, time to move on so get over it! She more than anyone should know how deeply her betrayal would hurt Tyler since she was the one who was there for him through everything. So yes they are both to be blamed, and not just Tyler and I wish fandom would stop trying to villainize him. [If anything, Caroline is more to be blamed because she outright betrayed him. But that’s just my opinion. Doesn’t mean I don’t still love her but I can acknowledge her mistakes].
